A visitor went into cardiac arrest on Friday 28 April. The paramedics who arrived at the call decided to urgently operate on the man. He underwent ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), a special treatment that uses an artificial heart and lung to provide temporary life support to the patient.
Two hours later, a man with signs of life was taken to a teaching hospital in the 15th arrondissement of Paris.
