Turkish President Recep Erdogan appeared in public for the first time after being ill and took part in the Teknofest aerospace technology festival held in Istanbul, RIA Novosti reports.
The event, which is being held at the former Ataturk International Airport, features military aircraft, helicopters, drones and other equipment used by the Turkish Air Force. An air show was also held during the event.
Erdogan’s wife and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the festival with his wife.
Erdogan and Aliyev went to the venue of the festival in the first Turkish electric car. The President of Azerbaijan was driving the car. During the Technofest, the presidents of Turkey and Azerbaijan made speeches.
Aliyev stated that Ankara was by Baku's side from the first minutes of the 2nd Karabakh War to the last minute. “Erdogan clearly supported Azerbaijan with his statements and messages. He said that Azerbaijan is not alone, Turkey is next to Azerbaijan, and this gave us additional strength, additional spirit,” Ilham Aliyev stated.
According to him, “Turkey is today the commercial, energy, transport, and political center of Eurasia, the powerful Turkish industry strengthens both Turkey and its allies, and the Turkish army is one of the most advanced armies in the world today.”
