As part of the military aid from Italy, Ukraine received 20 units of self-propelled artillery installation (ACS) M109L, but it turned out that all of them were malfunctioning and not ready for combat operations. This is reported by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper, referring to the sources of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
“Not all weapons transported to Ukraine are in good condition. At the beginning of this year, none of the 20 self-propelled howitzers provided by Italy were ready for battle,” the source said.
The equipment batch was delivered to Ukraine on April 15. The witnesses did not notice any identification marks or numbers on the installations transported by train.
