There have been public demands or proposals from the Azerbaijani side regarding the installation of border posts in the Lachin Corridor, we are not going to get involved in the discussion of these proposals. Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated at a joint press conference with the French Foreign Minister, referring to the proposals of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan regarding the establishment of control over the Lachin road.
“There was a negotiation about Lachin and an agreement was reached, and that agreement and settlement is well-known. That agreement is reflected in the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020. Armenia has never prepared and is not going to be involved in the negotiations on a new settlement regarding the regime of the Lachin Corridor. Moreover, we believe that all the agreements reached, and this does not only refer to the agreements on the Lachin Corridor, should be smoothly and consistently regulated, so that more serious achievements can be made in the process of the general normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.
What Azerbaijan has done and continues to do in Lachin is absolutely illegal. This is confirmed by the interim judgment passed by the International Court of Justice, and must be abolished as soon as possible. Everything else that concerns and may concern the rights and security of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh can be discussed, reconsidered, regulated in the internationally visible, transparent mechanism and format of Stepanakert-Baku,” said Ararat Mirzoyan.
