After the establishment of an illegal Azerbaijani checkpoint in the Lachin Corridor, the communities of Hin Shen, Mets Shen, Yegtsahogh and Lisagor of Shushi region are under complete blockade. In order to resolve the situation, the command of the Russian peacekeeping troops in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) is negotiating with the Azerbaijani side.
Gurgen Nersisyan (State Minister of Artsakh) - Discussions are underway with the high leadership. Now we are waiting for the results of the discussions. As of now, there are no objective results or information.
The head of Shushi region says that it is urgent to transfer patients from Berdadzor sub-region to Goris, which, according to the agreement, should be provided by Russian peacekeepers.
Grisha Hovhannisyan (head of administration of Shushi region) - Pensioners in those 4 villages make up almost 27-30 percent of the population, therefore, we may not be able to take them to the hospital in time due to illnesses.
The Hin Shen, Mets Shen, Yegtsahogh and Lisagor communities of Shushi region have a certain amount of food and fuel. If the road remains closed for a long time, however, the head of the Yegtsahogh community predicts problems.
Artak Hakobyan (head of the Yegtsahogh community of Artsakh) - As of now, there are no problems in the community, but if it lasts for a long time, it is possible that certain problems will arise regarding food and medicine.
In the current situation, the Russian peacekeepers have a lot to do, not only to settle the humanitarian problems, but also to open the corridor earlier, is the assessment of the Minister of State of Artsakh. After the blocking of Hagari Bridge, some citizens remained in Syunik province. The issue of ensuring the return of children is particularly acute.
Gurgen Nersisyan - I tried to raise the problems related to the movement of the ambulance in front of the Russian peacekeepers, and today we are also trying to return minor children to their parents. In short, there are problems, and depending on how long Azerbaijan will maintain this situation, these problems will naturally become more difficult for the residents. And we, of course, although our possibilities are not unlimited, but now we are trying to take all possible measures so that the population does not end up in a very extreme situation, at least we try to ensure the minimum food problem, the fuel problem and the issues related to the health of the population.
On April 23, the Azerbaijani side blocked the road bypassing the city of Berdzor and set up a checkpoint on the Hagari River Bridge, which is a violation of international law and the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020.
