Prosperous Armenia party President Gagik Tsarukyan has been charged with vote buying and the case has been sent to court, the Prosecution General of Armenia announced Tuesday.
Investigators say Gagik Tsarukyan and Multi Group Concern Director Sedrak Arustamyan bribed voters during the 2017 parliamentary election to vote for their bloc and candidate.
The criminal proceedings were initiated back in June of 2020 when Tsarukyan was a Member of Parliament. Tsarukyan was stripped of immunity by parliament and taken into custody in September 2020. He was released on a 100,000,000 dram bail in October 2020.
