The Left Greens party made a statement, in which they remind that the UN accepted that great massacre, in which around 1.5 million people were killed, as a genocide. It was emphasized that the International Union of Genocide Scholars in 2007 also defined as genocide by the Ottoman state in 1914-1923, the action against the Armenians, Assyrians, Pontians and Greeks.
The statement stated that “1915 was not enough, and the policy of filtration continues today. Societies built on enmity, hatred and massacre, running away from the truth, afraid of confronting their past, cannot walk towards a better future.
At the end of the statement it is said: "We respectfully remember those who lost their lives in 1915, and we call on the state, current and future political authorities to take a step towards a real confrontation."
Hasan Cemal, the grandson of Cemal Pasha, the candidate for deputy of Istanbul's second district of the Left Greens party, also participated in the commemorative event.
It should be noted that this year, the pro-Kurdish People's Democratic Party (HDP), which is in danger of being closed, participated in the parliamentary elections with the lists of the Left Greens Party (YSP).
