Bagrat Zakaryan, head of the Meghri community, and Khachatur Andreasyan, first deputy head of the community, met today with the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Armenia, Morteza Abedin Varamin.
As reported by the municipality, the mayor noted that the meeting creates a solid basis for further cooperation, joint initiatives, implementation of joint ideas and plans.
The head of the community and the consul discussed issues related to possible cooperation between Meghri community and Iran in various fields. In order to further deepen and strengthen the friendship between the two peoples, the idea of twinning with the Meghri community and any city of Iran was discussed, emphasizing the participation of representatives of the Armenian community in that process.
Emphasizing the trends of developing the educational, cultural, tourism spheres and especially the youth's involvement in these spheres within the framework of the cooperation, an agreement was reached to organize mutual study visits in the near future.
They discussed a number of issues related to the Armenian-Iranian border, customs works and the efficiency of the free economic zone.
