“Our efforts are not weakening to support Azerbaijan and Armenia in the preparation of a peace treaty. The partners have accepted our proposal to hold the next round of bilateral negotiations in our territory. We will inform you about the dates when everything is finally agreed,” said Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during the weekly briefing.
Regarding the Azerbaijani provocation near the Tegh settlement on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Zakharova noted that it would not even be necessary to analyze this specific incident, because Russia had already spoken about it.
“We have presented our analysis that the involvement of other players or other structures there, which have never been engaged in the settlement of this long-standing conflict, will not have the necessary added value and will not have the effect of achieving peace at all. Instead, it will lead to escalations, destabilization, and will remove the achievement of the planned peaceful settlement. We have already assessed and predicted this. Now we are starting to reflect, to consider how additional destabilization is introduced by the intervention of external players,” said the diplomat.
