The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Armenia Nilakshi Saha Sinha presented her credentials to President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan.
Welcoming the newly appointed Ambassador, the President congratulated her on her appointment to this responsible position and wished her success.
In his speech, the President particularly said. “The relations with India are very important to Armenia. It’s no coincidence that shortly after gaining independence, Armenia and India established diplomatic relations. During these years, our relations have dynamically developed in all the fields – political, economic and cultural. I am sure that through joint efforts, we will record new achievements, as both of us are eager to do so. It can be noticed in the activation of our relations, especially in the past six months".
Expressing her gratitude for the warm reception, Ambassador Nilakshi Saha Sinha convey the warm greetings of the President of India Draupadi Murmu to President Khachaturyan. “As you mentioned, our cooperation is quite active in all dimensions – political, economic, and cultural, and as you also pointed out, in recent times, there has been a greater deepening of these relations. I can assure you that during my tenure, I will do my utmost to ensure that these relations are further strengthened, and we can deepen them in even more areas than there are currently.”
During the meeting, the sides discussed matters regarding the fields of cooperation between Armenia and India. They highlighted the need for continuous realization of the big potential of trade-economic, political, educational and cultural cooperation between the two countries. In this respect, they stressed the importance of introducing direct flights between Armenia and India, as well as the development of parliamentary diplomacy and mutual high-level visits.
During the meeting, President Khachaturyan touched upon the regional realities and provided the newly appointed Ambassador with details on the humanitarian crisis resulting from the blockade of the Lachin Humanitarian Corridor by the Azerbaijani side.
Both sides attached importance to closer cooperation between Armenia and India on international platforms and joint work on agenda issues.
