The delegation led by Lyon Mayor Grégory Doucet was hosted at Yerevan City Hall on April 10.
Acting Mayor of Yerevan Levon Hovhannisyan, Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan, Deputy Mayor Suren Grigoryan, Yerevan City Council’s My Step faction leader Armen Galjyan, Prosperous Armenia faction leader Mikayel Manrikyan and Luys faction leader Davit Khajakyan participated in the enlarged-format meeting.
Acting Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan thanked Doucet for accepting the invitation to pay an official visit to Yerevan. Hovhannisyan said that Doucet’s visit will intensify the expansion of partnership between the two cities and implementation of joint programs.
“The Armenian-French relations are on the highest level. We attach great importance to our collegial and friendly relations with Lyon, and I think we can already begin to work on the next three-year agreement and have concrete partnership in transport, traffic management and urban development areas, as well as in culture, tourism, education and other sectors,” Hovhannisyan said.
Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan attached importance to the friendly ties between the two countries and cities and pointed out the implementation of two projects which will be of key importance in the prospect of partnership between Yerevan and Lyon.
“The accumulation of the best experience is a wonderful opportunity for developing a competitive generation. The youth are our future and our future managers, thus I attach great importance to youth exchange programs. The Yerevan Project company and Lyon City Hall had developed the Kond Reconstruction Project. Today we have an opportunity to realize this project, by preserving the colour of the historic district and reconstructing it,” Avinyan said.
Doucet thanked for the invitation and warm reception and said that Lyon attaches special importance to enhancing its relations with Yerevan and expressed confidence that his visit will enable to outline and define the sequence of steps for moving forward.
“Healthy city, prosperous life and responsible economy – these are the important challenges that our cities must to overcome. I am sure that we will be able to realize these projects outlined in the circle of partnership between Yerevan and Lyon by uniting our efforts. This is my first visit to Yerevan, and I am happy to be involved in further strengthening and developing the ties between the two cities,” the Mayor of Lyon said.
The sides also exchanged views on the development of the next three-year partnership program.
