From June 12 to 23, NATO countries will conduct the largest aviation exercises in their history, Air Defender 2023. They will take place in countries bordering Russia.
In total, 24 allied countries will take part in the exercises. About 220 aircraft of 23 types are planned to be used. This makes Air Defender 2023 the largest air force deployment exercise since NATO was founded in 1949.
The purpose of Air Defender 2023 is to test the ability to quickly deploy and use the aviation of NATO countries.
Training will take place mainly in Germany. But the advanced operational points of the exercises will be located in the countries bordering Russia – the Czech Republic, Estonia and Latvia.
