We cannot do much without Europe, President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić said on Serbian radio and television. The country's leader stated that "there is no other way and no big choice."
Vučić said that Serbia is trying and can still be independent. However, the Balkan state cannot give guarantees of maintaining neutrality in relation with Russia and Western countries.
Serbia has no desire to join either the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) or the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Aleksandar Vučić said, stressing that "so far it is working." As for further actions, it would be foolish to promise something. "This is not serious, unrealistic, irresponsible," the Serbian president said.
On April 5, 2023, the Serbian Ministry of Defense announced the holding of the traditional military exercises ‘Platinum Wolf’ at the base ‘South’ near the city of Bujanovac from June 16 to 30 with partner states. Since 2014, Belgrade has been conducting maneuvers with the military of Hungary, the United States of America, Greece, France, Bulgaria, Romania and some non-NATO countries of the former Yugoslavia. However, on February 27, 2022, the Serbian Government decided to postpone the exercises with foreign partners.
