“Let them talk to us with rules. It is our tough demand. We will not balance on one leg but stand upright. We will defend our country’s sovereignty and independence in all respects. It is our unequivocal stance,” Irakli Kobakhidze stated on Imedi LIVE, addressing the US sanctions against judges, 1tv.ge reports.
According to him, the United National Movement lacks the resources to benefit from this decision. Kobakhidze also replied to concerns about the Supreme Court’s election of judges, noting that despite intense pressure, 28 judges were elected and that the Supreme Court then ruled hundreds of cases, with no complaints related to a single case.
“We cannot allow the legal system to revert to its pre-2012 state when systemic issues existed, and the court was used for repression. If someone wants to punish somebody, they should begin with Saakashvili, whose release is being sought, and then move on to Adeishvili, who is currently roaming around in Ukraine and Europe,” stated Kobakhidze.
