The two opposition factions at the Armenian parliament - 'Armenia' and 'With Honor' - have nominated their candidate for Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of Armenia, a position that has been vacant since the resignation of Kristinne Grigoryan in January this year.
The opposition’s candidate is Edgar Ferdinand Ghazaryan, former Armenian Ambassador to Poland and former Chief of Staff of the Constitutional Court, Chairperson of the Human Rights and Public Affairs Committee of the National Assebly of Armenia Taguhi Tovmasyan said in a statement.
"Thus, as of now, the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs has officially received relevant documents regarding the nomination of one candidate, which are exclusively related to Edgar Ghazaryan," Tovmasyan said.
