Davit Khazhakyan, founding member of the Bright Armenia Party, member of the party's management board, head of the ‘Luys’ faction of the Yerevan Council of Elders, participated in the 44th regular session of the Congress of Local and Territorial Authorities of the Council of Europe.
Among other issues raised, Davit Khazhakyan responded to the false propaganda theses of the Azerbaijani delegate Humbat Huseinov, who represents the New Azerbaijan ruling party.
Huseinov, in accordance with the new state propaganda theses of Azerbaijan, spoke about the rights of people who were allegedly displaced from Armenia in the past.
Davit Khazhakyan, responding to Huseinov, first cited the 7th clause of the agreement of November 9, 2020, by which Azerbaijan undertook to guarantee the return of internally displaced persons and refugees to the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent regions.
Khazhakyan noted that the Azerbaijani side refuses to fulfill this obligation and refuses to return the refugees to Shushi, Hadrut and other regions.
Khazhakyan also spoke about the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor and urged the Azerbaijani delegates to talk to their president and urge them to fulfill all the obligations that the Azerbaijani side has undertaken since November 9, as well as to remove the blockade of the Lachin Corridor.
