At the session of the NA Foreign Relations Committee, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan spoke about the discussions on the text of the peace treaty and noted that they managed to find non-ideal but mutually acceptable wordings on many issues.
“Unfortunately, this is about neither the main nor the key issues. All issues of great importance are still under discussion. In most of them, the positions of the parties are far from each other,” said Mirzoyan.
The Minister also addressed the issue of one of the MPs about the proposals of Russia and the West. “I have heard such definitions that the Russian Federation proposes to leave the Karabakh issue to the future, and the West to resolve the issue right now. This definition is imprecise. The Russian version was discussed and rejected by Azerbaijan at some point, the status will be clarified later.
This negotiation process, in which we are involved, implies the creation of an international mechanism for addressing the rights and security of Nagorno-Karabakh, under which the rights and security issues of Nagorno-Karabakh will be discussed in the conditions of direct dialogue between Baku and Stepanakert.
