Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan spoke about the peace process during the Parliament-Government question-and-answer session, while at the same time he stressed that Azerbaijan's aggressive rhetoric has intensified.
“The phenomenon you are talking about is not new. A negotiation process is underway, such as the peace treaty process. On the other hand, we see in reality Azerbaijan's escalating rhetoric, threats and aggressive actions on the ground. We witnessed this for the last time on September 13-14, when Azerbaijan invaded the sovereign territory of Armenia, we also witnessed it on December 12 with the closure of the Lachin Corridor and the blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh. This phenomenon continues. Moreover, both the propaganda of Armenian hatred and direct threats have intensified recently. Do you remember that the President of Azerbaijan announced that there will be no peace treaty? “They will not live peacefully on their 29 thousand square kilometers in Armenia, if they do not fully accept Azerbaijan's conditions.”
There is this ultimate attitude. There is this rhetoric. At the same time, negotiations on a peace treaty continue. We have received the Azerbaijani proposals again, we are working on them, our proposals will be forthcoming,” said the Armenian Foreign Minister.
According to Mirzoyan, the aggressive rhetoric of the Azerbaijani side not only does not contribute to the peace process, but also creates new obstacles in the way of that process.
“However, our position has not changed, we are firm. We will persistently and sincerely continue to negotiate with the aim of establishing long-term and stable peace in the region,” said the Foreign Minister.
