Strengthening the neighborhood is key for Tehran, the Caucasus region is a priority. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani, who is on a two-day working visit to Armenia, reaffirms Iran's position.
He emphasizes that Armenia has an important place in the concept of the neighborhood of Iran's foreign policy.
Ali Bagheri Kani (Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran) - I am in Armenia at the invitation of my Armenian colleague. Yesterday and today, we had very productive discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Minister of Armenia. During the meetings, Iran's stable position in ensuring peace in the region was highlighted. We noted that Iran is always a stable and reliable partner in establishing peace and security in the region.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran emphasizes that the countries of the region and not foreign powers are the guarantors of peace for the region.
DIALOGUE AS WAY TO ACHIEVING STABILITY AND PEACE
Referring to the observation that Azerbaijan continues to keep the territories of Armenia occupied, keeps the Lachin Corridor under siege for 100 days, continues the belligerent rhetoric, using the false theses of ‘West Azerbaijan’ for some territories of Armenia, ‘South Azerbaijan’ for some regions of Iran, Ali Bagheri Kani emphasizes that Iran will use all its potential to contribute to solving problems through peaceful dialogue.
Ali Bagheri Kani - God created diplomats to achieve stability through peaceful dialogues. I suppose that the leaders of the countries of the region are so wise that they will choose the option of dialogue to achieve peace.
ARMENIAN-IRANIAN AGENDA
The Armenian-Iranian agenda has expanded quite a bit in recent years, as a result of which the consultations between Armenia and Iran have become even more intense, says Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan.
Vahan Kostanyan (Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia) - It includes many economic programs, which we are trying to implement with joint efforts, or we are trying to make each other's positions more understandable in relation to international and regional security.
During these consultations, all issues of the Armenia-Iran agenda were discussed, Kostanyan explains.
Vahan Kostanyan - Reference was made to the entire agenda, including regional security issues. Especially during the recent days, the Foreign Ministry also presents the situation created in the region and the attempts of provocations of Azerbaijan, which are aimed at further destabilizing the situation in the South Caucasus, the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor.
He emphasizes that all this was thoroughly presented to the Iranian partners as well. The deputy minister considers it necessary that the consultations should not be interrupted, should be periodic.
