Kyiv continues to contact Beijing over the conversation between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, announced this on Thursday on the air of the Rada TV channel.
“We can’t say for sure, because negotiations are underway about this,” Podolyak said in response to a question whether the conversation between the heads of state would take place.
On Monday, The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reported that Xi Jinping allegedly plans to hold online talks with Zelensky. According to the publication, next week the Chinese leader expects to visit Moscow and meet with the Russian President. Vladimir Putin and then talk to the Ukrainian leader.
However, the Chinese Foreign Ministry did not provide specific information about Xi Jinping’s alleged plans to hold an online meeting with Zelensky.
