The danger of escalation has never stopped, we have always announced it, also taking into account the statements of the leader of our neighboring country, including the aggressive rhetoric. Therefore, we must be vigilant and ready to protect the borders of our country. Armenia’s Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan said about this in a briefing with journalists in the Parliament.
Answering the question whether we will turn to our partners in case of escalation, Papikyan said. “If necessary, we will apply, now let's not talk about something that didn't happen. You say, are you ready to resist? We are ready to defend every millimeter of our country at any cost.”
Referring to the publications on the accumulations on the border of Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia, Suren Papikyan said that the Defense Ministry always makes statements, Russian peacekeepers spread messages about it every day.
“Regarding Armenia’s borders, there is currently no accumulation recorded, but this does not imply that we should stop or reduce our vigilance. Since there is talking about whether we are ready or not and so on, I do not want to make an impression as if we are talking about war or preparing for war. We do not deviate from our peace agenda, but it does not mean that the borders or territorial integrity of our country are negotiable,” said Suren Papikyan.
