Louis Bono, Chief Adviser for South Caucasus negotiations of the US Department of State, is on a visit to Azerbaijan, reports the US Embassy to Baku.
The high-ranking representative of the State Department will meet with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and other officials of the republic.
The purpose of the visit is to contribute to the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The American diplomat will also visit Armenia and Georgia.
Parallel to Bono's visit, Toivo Klaar, EU's special representative in the South Caucasus, is in the capital of Azerbaijan. Klaar said the incident underscores “the urgency of moving forward with negotiations.”
