The United States advocates long-term peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Louis Bono, chief adviser on Caucasus negotiations of the US State Department, announced this. According to him, the USA fulfills the role of supporting the peace process.
“The peace agreement must be stable. Its initiator should be the parties themselves, not the USA or other countries. Our goal is for the parties to communicate,” said the diplomat.
Bono noted that he knows the position of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev regarding the OSCE Minsk Group. However, for the USA, it is important that Azerbaijan and Armenia communicate, regardless of the mediation format.
The chief adviser of the US State Department noted that after the visit and meetings in Baku, he will leave for Yerevan tomorrow.
