German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that his country has become independent of gas, oil and coal supplies from Russia, without this leading to an economic crisis.
"We have gained our independence from gas, coal and oil supplies from Russia a year ago, no one expected that we would easily escape economically from a situation where there is no more gas supply from Russia to Germany, and to many parts of Europe," Scholz said.
Schulz stressed: "We succeeded and some expected did not happen. There is no economic crisis in Germany, there is no shortage of gas or anything like that."
Since the launch of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, Western countries, led by the United States, have taken the initiative to impose unilateral sanctions on Russia, and many European countries have refrained from buying Russian oil and tried to impose a price ceiling on it, in an attempt to prevent other countries from buying it.
Earlier, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that the refusal of all countries to buy Russian oil would create problems and lead to an imbalance in the global oil market.
