The European Commission expects China not to supply arms to Russia, this was confirmed at a briefing in Brussels by the official representative of the European Union foreign service, Nabil Massrali, Ria Novisti reports.
“I think the head of European diplomacy (Josep Borrell – ed.) was very clear at the press conference after the EU foreign ministers meeting (20 February – ed.). “It has a message… China should play a positive role towards Russia and not take a side that we think is not right. It has reaffirmed that it will stick to China’s policy and will not supply arms to either side,” he said.
The head of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs threatened Moscow with the “consequences” of military aid.
The United States and its allies have repeatedly expressed their concerns about the possibility of China supplying weapons to Russia. Accordingly, official Beijing accused the West of double standards in the supply of weapons from China to Russia, because the West itself is arming Ukraine. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin has already stated that the United States, not China, is constantly supplying weapons to the battlefield of the Ukraine conflict, and that Washington must stop spreading misinformation and shifting responsibility to others.
Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, answered a question about the allegation that China is providing arms to Russia, saying that Beijing steadfastly denies this and has nothing to add to it.
Russia sent a note to NATO countries for the supply of weapons to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that any cargo containing weapons for Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation reported that NATO countries were “playing with fire” by supplying weapons to Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that pumping weapons into Ukraine from the West does not contribute to the success of the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and will have a negative effect.
