Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is on a two-day working visit to Germany with his wife Anna Hakobyan.
Prime Minister Pashinyan met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. After the negotiations, the prime minister and the chancellor wrapped up the results of the meeting in a press conference.
Olaf Scholz said Germany supports the EU monitoring mission in Armenia.
The chancellor noted that the two touched on regional developments and discussed the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, as a result of the blockade of the Lachin Corridor.
Scholz stressed that the status quo cannot continue and a long-term solution must be reached based on the territorial integrity of Armenia and Azerbaijan and the right of self-determination of the Nagorno-Karabakh people.
"However, all these principles are equal", Scholz added.
"Germany supports the mediation efforts of the President of the European Council Charles Michel, we have also done this by sending German personnel to the EU mission. Moreover, a German federal police officer will lead that mission", said the German Chancellor.
He informed that they also discussed the economic relations of the two countries with Prime Minister Pashinyan.
