On February 23, the Armenian National Assembly President Alen Simonyan hosted the delegation led by the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn, the Parliament’s Press office reports.
The interlocutors touched upon the active political dialogue existing between Armenia and Luxembourg. “We greatly highlight the cooperation with your country within the framework of the European Union (EU) on the way of democratic reforms. We are glad for appointing a non-resident new Ambassador to Armenia. I hope that in the future we also have resident ambassadors in capitals,” Alen Simonyan.
At the meeting issues on security situation were discussed. The NA President thanked the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg for adopting resolutions regarding the war unleashed against Artsakh in 2020, as well as for the resolution of repatriation Armenian prisoners of war and civilians being held in Azerbaijan. He reminded that until now there are at least 33 Armenian prisoners of war in the Azerbaijani hostage. The Speaker of Parliament also highly appreciated the Foreign Minister’s personal role in regularly voicing out loud the sensible problems of importance for Armenia on the international platforms.
During the meeting the deployment of the EU long-term Observation Mission on the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
