Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented to the media on the formation of the new Moldovan government, the commentary was published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to her, Moscow has been closely following the formation of the new Moldovan government.
"We noticed that this process was accompanied by an unprecedented build-up of anti-Russian rhetoric by official Chisinau on the basis of unsubstantiated information about some Russian plan to destabilize the situation in the country, which was received from Kyiv. We are convinced that no sane person in Moldova believed this latest fake story," said a comment by the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson.
According to Maria Zakharova, if we look at the new composition of the Moldovan cabinet, "it becomes clear that the changes are more of a cosmetic nature."
"Of its fifteen members, eleven have retained their positions. Therefore, unfortunately, Chisinau's course with respect to Russia is unlikely to change.
We repeatedly spoke that the western curators of the present leadership of Moldova confidently conduct the country on a way of Ukraine and the Baltic States. The same molds are being used - banning unwanted media, persecuting political opponents, restricting the use of the Russian language, attempting to falsify our common history, artificially restricting political, trade, economic, and humanitarian contacts with Russia, and abandoning the neutral status that is the guarantee of the sovereignty, stability, and security of the republic. This political course of the Moldovan authorities does not serve the interests of our peoples.
For our part, we remain open to the development of constructive and pragmatic bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the citizens of Russia and Moldova," Zakharova said.
