Speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament Sahiba Gafarova stated that she is against the deployment of the EU observation mission on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, convinced that it will interfere with the Armenia-Azerbaijan settlement process; therefore it should be avoided. She noted that she expressed her position during the meetings held in Russia.
During the meeting with Gafarova in Moscow, Speaker of the Russian State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, expressed his belief that the role of European structures, in particular, “the role of the European Parliament and the PACE in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, may cause new problems.”
