On February 13, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Paruyr Hovhannisyan received the newly-appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Armenia Edite Medne (with residence in Tbilisi) on the occasion of handing over the copies of her credentials.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs congratulated Ambassador Medne on her appointment, wishing her fruitful realization of her mission. He also expressed his belief that the Ambassador will contribute to further strengthening and deepening of relations between Armenia and Latvia.
During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the agenda of issues on both bilateral and multilateral cooperation, including cooperation with the European Union. The sides expressed their readiness to make all efforts towards fully realizing the existing potential of bilateral cooperation.
Paruyr Hovhannisyan briefed upon the consequences of blockade of the free movement of people and goods through the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan and disruption of gas supply to Nagorno-Karabakh, stressing that Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) is facing the threat of a humanitarian crisis. He also emphasized that the actions of the Azerbaijani leadership, warmongering rhetoric and maximalist approach seriously endanger the possibility of achieving peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
