On February 13, the RA NA President Alen Simonyan received the delegation led by the Chair of the NA Korea-Armenia Friendship Group of the Republic of Korea Ki Hun Song.
At the meeting the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the Armenian-Korean bilateral relations was stressed.
The possible directions for further developing and strengthening the bilateral relations between Armenia and South Korea were discussed. The sides underlined the necessity for mutually beneficial cooperation in the trade-economic, scientific, educational, cultural and tourism spheres.
In this context the NA President highlighted the opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Armenia, which will opportunity for great progress in the Armenian-Korean relations.
Alen Simonyan highly appreciated the support of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to Armenia, particularly to the National Assembly, expecting continuity.
The colleagues discussed issues on the regional security, as well as Azerbaijan’s expansionist aspirations and problems relating to its consequences.
“We value the balanced position of the Republic of Korea on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, and we hope that Korea will continue supporting the international mediators’ efforts in the issue of resolving the conflict exclusively through peaceful way,” Alen Simonyan noted.
The NA President added that Armenia expects targeted steps from the international partners demanding Azerbaijan to fully implement its obligations assumed by the 9 November 2020 trilateral statement, to immediately and unreservedly lift the blockade of the Lachin Corridor and ensure safe and secure transport communication.
