Syria expresses gratitude to a number of countries that provided assistance to the Syrian people after the earthquake. The Minister of Local Self-Government and Environmental Protection of the Arab Republic, Hussein Makhlouf, announced this at a press conference held in Damascus on Wednesday, Al Ekhbariya TV channel reports.
“We express our gratitude to the countries that have contributed to support the people of Syria, including Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Russia, Algeria, Egypt, Pakistan, Armenia, Oman, Cuba, Venezuela and Belarus,” the Minister said.
The Minister of Health of Syria, Hassan al-Ghabbash, also called on the countries of the world to provide equipment and help to Damascus after the February 6 earthquake.
As al-Ghabbash noted, many companies are unable to provide medical equipment to Syria due to sanctions.
“The blockade prevents many companies from supplying the necessary medical equipment, and we call on all organizations to intervene immediately to provide the necessary medical assistance,” he emphasized.
On Tuesday, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad addressed this issue, stating that “sanctions only deepen the disaster.”
