Belgrade expects to start importing Azerbaijani gas in 2024, announced Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic.
“Serbia started actively participating in the Southern Gas Corridor project later, but we are working quickly to become part of that route. This will allow us to diversify our sources of gas supply and ensure their security,” Djedovic said at the ministerial meeting held in Baku within the advisory council of the Southern Gas Corridor.
According to the official, the construction of the Bulgaria-Serbia gas interconnection will be completed in autumn 2023. She noted that the first gas supplies from Azerbaijan are expected at the beginning of 2024.
Serbia plans to cover up to 40 percent of its gas demand at the expense of Azerbaijan's supplies.
