The secretary of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem, Nerseh Aloyan, said that three Jewish extremists in Jerusalem this time broke into the Catholic Church in Via Dolorosa, threw the statue of Jesus Christ from the altar, desecrated the church and tried to set it on fire.
Fortunately, the church guard noticed the inadequate extremists and tried to detain one of them before the Israeli police arrived.
According to tradition, that church was built on the site of Pilate's house (La Casa de Pilatos), where after questioning Christ, he publicly washed his hands, saying that he saw no crime in Jesus.
