The German Embassy in Turkey has warned its citizens in the country about possible terrorist attacks after a series of Quran desecrations in Europe.
Earlier, the US and French missions in Turkey issued similar warning. "According to the estimates of the representatives of the special services, after the incident of burning the Koran in front of the Turkish embassy in Sweden, the threat of terrorist acts in Turkey is increasing," the German embassy said in a statement.
The US government also warned about possible retaliatory attacks by terrorists on religious institutions in Turkey. The US, French and German embassies in Ankara have urged their citizens to exercise maximum vigilance when visiting public places and avoid crowded places.
