The European Union is examining the possibility of imposing new sanctions on Belarus, the Bloomberg news agency reported citing relevant documents.
According to the report, the new measures will bring the sanctions against Belarus into conformity with restrictions earlier imposed on Russia.
Therefore, exports of dual-purpose goods and technologies to the country will be prohibited.
Restrictions may also be imposed on energy and aviation sectors, as well as on coal, gold, oil, steel, investment and luxury items. At the same time, the European legislation will target anyone helping to bypass those sanctions.
Medicines, agricultural products and food will be exempt from those sanctions.
The proposed measures require approval of all EU member states.
