Lachin Corridor has been closed for 46 days. Ruben Rubinyan, head of Armenia’s parliamentary delegation to the PACE, announced during an urgent debate on the ‘Humanitarian consequences of blocking the Lachin Corridor’ at PACE.
He reminded that the President of Azerbaijan signed a document on November 9, 2020, stating that the Lachin Corridor should be under the control of peacekeepers, and Azerbaijan should ensure the free movement of people, goods and vehicles through the Lachin Corridor. Rubinyan also referred to the worsening humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
“Furthermore, Azerbaijan also disconnected the gas and electricity of Nagorno-Karabakh. Of course, Azerbaijan will deny all this, will make arguments saying that there is no blockade or will try to justify the blockade by the so-called, ‘activists’,” Rubinyan said.
He suggested sending a fact-finding mission to the Lachine Corridor. “If our Azerbaijani colleagues are against it, this means that they have the intention of genocide. Their goal is to depopulate Nagorno-Karabakh,” Rubinyan emphasized.
