The delegation led by Mayor of Yerevan Hrachya Sargsyan met with the Chairman of the city council of Tehran. Welcoming the members of the Yerevan delegation, Mostafa Chamran emphasized the cooperation between Yerevan and Tehran and noted that there is a great opportunity to move the relations between the two sides to a practical stage.
“It is welcome for us to have a constructive partnership, and we, in our turn, must make efforts to make the outlined plans a reality. Tehran really has the potential to transfer knowledge and experience to Yerevan, we are also ready to use your experience,” said the Chairman of Tehran City Council.
Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan, for his part, emphasized that Yerevan attaches great importance to the deepening of cooperation with Tehran, the capital of Iran, and expressed his belief that prospects will open up between the legislative bodies of the two capitals to implement joint projects at that level as well.
“Our histories and cultures are interconnected, that's why Iranian-Armenians have become a part of Iran and have their share in the development of the state. Today, we in our turn are creating a history that will also be passed on to generations,” emphasized the Mayor of Yerevan.
Taking into account that the problems of big cities are similar, the parties attached special importance to the exchange of experience in different areas of the city economy. Armen Galjian, the head of the ‘My Step’ faction of the Yerevan Council of Elders, Davit Khazhakyan, the head of the ‘Light’ faction, and Armen Nersisyan, a member of the ‘Prosperous Armenia’ faction, who were present at the meeting, noted that the council of elders should help the capital cities to cooperate and implement the provisions established in the documents.
