The European Parliament adopted a resolution on the humanitarian consequences of the blockade of Nagorno Karabakh. It calls on Azerbaijan to respect and implement provisions of the November 9, 2020 Trilateral Statement and immediately reopen the Lachin Corridor to ensure free movement and access to essential goods and services.
The resolution also urges Azerbaijan to refrain from provocative rhetoric, calls to Armenians to leave Artsakh, as well as further disruption of transport, energy and communication links between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.
The European Parliament "also condemns the inactivity of Russian peacekeepers", notes that their replacement by OSCE international peacekeepers in accordance with the UN mandate should be agreed urgently. The resolution calls for a UN or OSCE fact-finding mission to be sent to the Lachin Corridor to assess the humanitarian situation there.
