Chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the discussion of the performance report 2022 of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport continued today.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Ministers Mher Grigoryan and Tigran Khachatryan, Chief of the Prime Minister's Staff Arayik Harutyunyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, Head of the State Supervision Service Romanos Petrosyan, Deputy Minister of Finance Vahan Sirunyan, officials from the Prime Minister's Office, the leadership of the Miistry of Education, other officials.
In the format of the exchange of ideas, the reports on the reforms of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport continued. Reforms in the fields of sports and physical culture, book publishing and library policy, cultural and art education, protection of monuments, management of cultural institutions became subject of discussion.
Referring to the field of sports, the Prime Minister instructed to properly organize the preparations for the "Paris 2024" Olympic Games, emphasizing the cooperation between the Ministry and the National Olympic Committee of Armenia, and sports federations. In the context of increasing the cost effectiveness of state programs, Nikol Pashinyan considered it necessary to inventory the investments made in the field and ensure the accountability of sports structures. The Head of the Government also instructed to consider the issue of including the component of sport education in the investment programs, especially in the schools of regions, as well as to involve the Tourism Committee in the preparation of international sports tournaments to be held in Armenia in 2023.
Nikol Pashinyan referred to the state policy of book publishing and library and proposed to present options for improving the existing mechanisms, including digitalization. The Prime Minister instructed to develop such a management model that will promote the revitalization of book publishing, libraries, educational and cultural life in the country, including with the application of the principle of public-private partnership.
Nikol Pashinyan drew the attention of the leadership of the Ministry to the importance of cultural and educational content, which form the cultural identity of the nation, and instructed to thoroughly reflect ethnography studies in the strategy of the culture sector. According to the Head of the Government, the cultural state policy should be aimed at bringing people into contact with cultural life on a daily basis, creating an appropriate environment, and programs should be implemented with this logic in mind.
The Prime Minister instructed to carry out not only restoration, but also development projects within the framework of preservation of historical and cultural monuments. Nikol Pashinyan also emphasized the modernization of the management system of cultural organizations and, in particular, the introduction of a new financing model.
