The US Congress' approval of the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey will depend on Ankara's behavior, and the decision to supply Greece with fifth-generation F-35 fighter jets has nothing to do with it. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated during a press conference in Alexandroupolis.
“We are interested in our own weapons program. We have submitted our request. It's not about F-16s. What the Congress will decide on Turkey is a separate issue,” Mitsotakis said, adding that a change in Ankara's behavior is a necessary condition for selling weapons systems to Turkey.
“The flights of Turkish military planes and drones over the Greek islands are also flights over the NATO islands,” the Prime Minister of Greece noted.
