The only power line of Armenia supplying Artsakh has broken down in the Aghavno-Berdzor section. The devices recorded that the accident was in the 33rd kilometer of the Goris-Stepanakert overhead high-voltage line.
Tigran Gabrielyan (Deputy General Director of Artsakhenergo) - It is difficult to say whether it was an accident or another intervention, because we currently do not have the opportunity to visit the accident site in order to carry out an investigation or to carry out emergency restoration works.
Russian peacekeepers have been negotiating with the Azerbaijani side to carry out disaster recovery works since yesterday. Due to the destructive position of Baku, however, for now, electricity supply in Artsakh is carried out through local generating stations, but the available capacity does not meet all the demand, says the deputy director of Artsakhenergo company.
Tigran Gabrielyan - We are implementing fan shutdowns in the entire territory of the republic, at the moment still on a two-hour schedule. We publish the schedules both on our website and on public television, so that people know in advance what time they will be without power.
Until the Goris-Stepanakert power line is restored, saving electricity in Artsakh is the only option, officials say, otherwise additional power outages are inevitable.
