What is happening in the Lachin Corridor, first of all, aims to break the will of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians to live in their own homeland. Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan mentioned at the meeting with journalists on Tuesday, January 10.
"The Armenian government's positions have been expressed, and we believe that our toolkit should be diplomatic, that is, to exert as much international pressure as possible on opening the Lachin Corridor," said Pashinyan.
At the same time, he reminded that according to paragraph 6 of the statement of November 9, 2020, legal obligations regarding the Lachin Corridor are imposed on Azerbaijan and Russia.
"There is no word about Armenia in point 6 of the statement. We believe that our actions in this regard must be fully legitimate, and we consider legitimacy to be of central importance in this process and in all our actions.
The Russian peacekeeping force must ensure the regular operation of the Lachin Corridor. it is clearly formulated in the trilateral declaration. It is true that after November 9, 2020, contrary to the agreements, Azerbaijan did not sign the mandate of the Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, but there is no indication in the document that it comes into force only after the signature of 3 parties", Pashinyan said.
Even before this, Azerbaijan made an attempt to claim that Armenia did not fulfill some of its obligations assumed by the trilateral statement. It is completely fiction. The trilateral statement is a public document. In deed, not everything was fulfilled by Azerbaijan, for example, the return of prisoners, etc. I have already mentioned that despite the fact that the trilateral statement emphasizes the return of refugees and internally displaced persons to Nagorno Karabakh and neighboring regions with the support of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, but, for example, the representatives of the UN did not have the opportunity to enter Nagorno Karabakh, not even to mention our compatriots who forcibly displaced from Hadrut, who have not had any opportunity to return to their homes.
