Ned Price, US State Ned Price, Department Spokesperson referred to the arrest and detention of two opposition figures in Azerbaijan during the press briefing.
“So we’re deeply troubled by the arrest and detention of Bakhtiyar Hajiyev and Tofig Yagublu. We urge the authorities to release them expeditiously. We remain strongly committed to advancing respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. And again, we urge the government to expect its citizens’ right, including the rights to express views peacefully”, Price said.
