Planned surgeries continue to be suspended in hospitals in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) due to the ongoing blockade of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan.
The Lachin Corridor is the only road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia and the rest of the world.
13 children are hospitalized in neonatal and intensive care at the Arevik hospital, the Nagorno-Karabakh Healthcare Ministry said.
Another 13 patients are hospitalized in the intensive care department of the Republican Medical Center in Stepanakert. 6 of them are in critical condition. “Doctors are doing everything they can to stabilize the patients.”
“So far, a total of 13 patients – including a 4-month-old and a 2-month-old – have been transported from Artsakh to Armenia under the mediation and escorted by the International Committee of the Red Cross. The Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Artsakh is taking all possible measures to duly overcome the situation resulting from the blockade,” the Healthcare Ministry said in a statement.
