The question on the possible signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan must be asked to the negotiating parties, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said when asked whether or not Armenia and Azerbaijan could sign a peace treaty in the next months and whether it would include the issue of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh.
“It would be more reasonable to ask this question to the parties to negotiations, meaning Baku and Yerevan. It is they who set the dynamics of contacts and decide the content of the future peace treaty. Russia, who has strategic partnership and allied relations with both Azerbaijan and Armenia is providing all possible support to this process in the form and volume in which our Azerbaijani and Armenian friends are interested in,” Lavrov told RIA Novosti.
