The escalation around the Lachin Corridor complicates the work of concluding a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said this in an interview with TASS and assured that the Russian side is making vigorous efforts to settle the situation on the ground.
“We are waiting for the early resumption of joint work in all ways of regulating Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. We believe that in this case, the period of agreement regarding the document is not very important. The main thing is that Baku and Yerevan reach a mutually acceptable solution that will guarantee a stable and fair peace in the region,” said the diplomat.
According to Galuzin, the Russian side is ready to support the negotiation process as stated in the trilateral statement of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia at the Sochi summit on October 31.
