Armen Khachatryan, deputy of the Parliament’s ‘Civil Contract’ faction, assured journalists in a briefing that active work is being done to open the Lachin corridor.
“Works are being carried out in a number of directions, including the performance of the functions of Russian peacekeepers. Of course, there are also demands from the Russian peacekeepers to solve the problems they are tasked to. However, at the same time the question arises whether they are able to solve these problems. I think that the Russian peacekeepers are able to solve these problems, it's just a matter of time, and everything is being done so that there are no escalation processes, these processes require a certain period of time.
I think that they have certain problems, they are under pressure from Azerbaijan and a number of countries. But I have confidence that the Russian peacekeepers must solve the problems they are tasked to.
Lachin Corridor should be opened and will be opened without preconditions,” said Khachatryan.
Answering the question about the peace treaty, Khachatryan noted that considering the tense situation and Azerbaijan’s rhetoric, in his opinion, no document will be signed this year.
