Minister of Health of Armenia Anahit Avanesyan discussed with Head of Delegation of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Thierry Ribaux the possibilities of preventing the risks of a healthcare crisis in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) resulting from the Azerbaijani blocking of movement through the Lachin Corridor.
Avanesyan noted that one patient was transported to Yerevan with support from the ICRC but there is still need to urgently transport more critically-ill patients.
The possibility of transporting patients from Artsakh and sending medicine and baby food with cooperation with the ICRC were discussed.
Thierry Ribaux said that the ICRC has an office in Stepanakert through which it continues its humanitarian mission and is ready to mediate in organizing medical treatment and medicine supply.
Avanesyan also emphasized the importance of providing professional psychological support to the population in Artsakh.
