The Taliban have flogged 28 people, including 5 women, in front of spectators in Jawzjan and Kapisa provinces.
The Taliban flogged 22 people, including 3 women, on Sunday (December 18th) at the Marshall Dostum Football Stadium in Sheberghan city, which serves as the capital city of Afghanistan’s northwestern Jawzjan province.
At the same time, according to local sources, the Taliban flogged 6 other people, including 2 women, in the Sherwani market of Nijrab district, Kapisa province.
The Taliban have flogged 30 to 50 times each on accusations of robbery, running away from home, premarital affairs, and selling drugs.
Taliban officials have not hitherto officially commented on these public trials.
Public trials ordered by the Taliban leadership are held daily across Afghanistan despite global backlash. The Taliban has so far flogged several hundreds of people in public throughout Afghanistan.
